This not so encouraging, press screenings have already begun...
Suicide Squad doesn’t hit theater till Friday, but the early reviews are grim. A quick glance at Rotten Tomatoes shows the movie at a 30-percent Fresh rating, meaning Warner Bros.’ latest outing in the DC Extended Universe this year is just a hair or two better — at least in critical consensus — than Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Tasha Robinson from The Verge wrote that the film doesn’t quite know what it wants to be.
Vanity Fair described the film as "ultimately too shoddy and forgettable to even register as revolting."
Christy Lemire at RogerEbert.com wrote "It's massive, messy and noisy. And it stinks."
Kenneth Turan of the Los Angeles Times says "Suicide Squad" is a concept in search of a story worth telling.
Kyle Smith of the New York Post writes, The question isn't whether "Suicide Squad" is as good as "The Avengers," but whether it's as bad as "Green Lantern."
Rene Rodriguez of the Miami Herald writes There isn't a moment of spontaneous fun or humor in this long, turgid movie, the latest letdown for DC Comics fans who've been waiting for someone to pick up the baton Christopher Nolan left behind.
..and on and on, they pretty much all say the same thing...
The positive reviews are "reserved" more or less middle of the road searching for something good to say and 2-3 star ratings even then.
For example EW gave it a B- rating with this blurb:
For DC, which blew it with Batman v Superman last spring, Suicide Squad is a small step forward. But it could have been a giant leap.
Chris Nashawaty, Entertainment Weekly
So even the few plus reviews are not glowing ones...
